Colored Pencil
Also called Coloured Pencil · Colored-pencil drawing
Colored-pencil drawing builds color from pigment-bearing cores applied directly to paper, often through many light layers. Fine hatching, interwoven marks, and visible paper grain are characteristic. Heavier pressure can burnish those particles into a smoother surface, allowing delicate detail, soft edges, and gradual tonal changes within the same drawing.
